Dr Bhabananda Biswas

Founder & President

Bhabananda Biswas (Bhaba) was born with severe haemophilia in 1982 in Magura, a rural village in the Jashore district of Bangladesh. He grew up in a resilient family that faced poverty, social challenges, and the daily struggle to manage a life-threatening condition. His parents raised two sons with severe haemophilia at a time when preventing bleeding was almost impossible. Bhaba lived through hundreds of painful episodes, sleepless nights, bullying, and social mocking, and developed physical impairment from repeated joint and muscle bleeding.

Despite these challenges, he held on to a simple philosophy: education, resilience, and taking life with ease. He graduated from Khulna University in 2007 with the highest standing, completed his master’s degree with top rating, and became a university lecturer at Jashore University of Science and Technology. He later left this role to pursue higher study in Belgium with a European Union scholarship, and then moved to Australia to complete his Doctor of Philosophy.

Bhaba is now a Research Fellow at the University of Newcastle, Australia. He lives there with his wife and two sons. His lived experience and belief in dignity, empathy, and awareness inspire the vision of the DREAM Foundation.
